Antonio Murat is Finance and Marketing manager of Yolcan. The first objective of the company was to offer a sales channel to the small producers in Xochimilco focused on organic gourmet products. It all began in 2011 with their own produce, but shortly afterward it began to depend on a network of producers that sell their products through this company.
The process of working in this company is simple: "When the farmer decides to join our network and begins to produce under our organic guidelines and with the seeds we give him, we guarantee to purchase their produce." Antonio does not hide the fact that initially it was difficult to generate trust among the farmers and demonstrate to them that their seeds worked.
"After eight months when they saw that the product was really growing, they began to come to us and tell us that they wanted to work with our seeds. After time, other producers became interested because they were paid more than in the central market; the margin for producers is between 25% and 30% per product."
