The PIC Place, Partners in Integrated Care, is a comprehensive health clinic for people who face financial barriers to getting medical attention. Thanks to this social enterprise, patients receive the care they need to maintain their health in the areas of dental, vision, behavioral health, and physical therapy. As its executive director, Melanie Hall, explains: "There is an emphasis on patient empowerment through education and decision-making skills, which translates into a viable behavior change that results in better health outcomes."
Their 8,000 patients live in a rural area of the state where health care services are limited. "These patients, who often have language and cultural barriers, suffer from the consequences of living in poverty." Each patient receives individualized treatment "through open communication, the promotion of the development of cultural skills, high quality services, and fostering long-term relationships between the patient and the medical center."
The PIC Place is committed to improving lives in the community by providing education and better access to health care services, based on good teams and staff. "The PIC Place wants to partner with people with financial needs to help them achieve their maximum potential of well-being."
