Social Forest aims to raise the awareness of the value of forests as a natural resource, source of energy and important tool in the fight against climate change. To achieve this goal it works with a social, sustainable and collaborative focus, offering vocational training adapted to young people in a situation or at risk of social exclusion.
Social Forest combines integration, professional training and forestry work applied to the concept of "forestry coaching". This means that young people learn and practice both vocational and personal skills in the forest. The natural environment offers a unique relaxed and positive atmosphere for learning. In addition, they organize a vocational training program in which young people spend a few months working in Germany. There they have the chance to learn new forestry techniques, discover another country and culture and experience an alternative approach to forestry work.
So far Social Forest has offered sustainable forestry management and training solutions. However, they have begun to work on two new lines of business, launching social firewood and outdoor furniture products onto the market. They are also increasing their presence in Germany year by year.
The company has won a number of recognitions such as "Guardons de Anells de la Fusta" from the Fusters Association in Barcelona, in 2015. In 2017 it received an honorary mention in the Energy Excellence awards from the Government of Barcelona.
