Protrash is a social enterprise that is engaged in democratizing the recycling industry in Mexico and teaches women from low income communities to acquire a monetary value for the recyclable waste they collect. As a result, they create an economic accelerator in these communities.

This company generates monetary incentives so that women can separate the daily garbage from their home and then take it to the Protrash Center located in their community. This center will process 10 times more waste volume than any other collection center, thanks to the new users who now recycle. "This is only possible because we have developed a network of connections and knowledge around the community so that each family finds it attractive to go and sell their recyclable materials," explain their managers Yuvia Paulina López and Andrea Garcia. "The innovation of our business model lies in the technology we have designed for the current system to be optimized, supporting the process of collecting recyclable materials and calculating monetary incentives on store voucher cards." The solution proposed by this company consists of: an Android mobile device with app, digital scale and RFID card.
