Elisabet Juan Badia is one of those responsible for MyLife. She says the main goals of this social enterprise are "to foster trust and foster the development of skills." MyLife can operate either at the home, while people continue to live with the family, in an assisted home or completely independently within a local community.
The patients chosen are aged between 16 and 35. They pass through a selection process, and once chosen, through three phases. The first is called Ready, when they live in a residential home or with a family; the next phase is Steady, where the person is given greater independence and self-management; and the final phase is called Go, in which there is a transition to a supported home.
According to Elisabet, the response to this method has so far been positive, "both from family associations and professionals in the field."
