The technology company Mass Factory took part in the fourth edition of BBVA Momentum, seeking to drive the development of its accessible navigation service and move into new markets. The application it has developed is the brainchild of one of its founders, Jordi Roig de Zárate, a sightless Ph.D in ICT who set out to come up with a solution to the problems encountered by the visually impaired when they move around the city.
The service offered by this application is to show the different options to get from one place to another using public transport. Unlike other products, this app supports users throughout the entire journey, while its universal design means anyone can use the app regardless of their functional skills. The service also includes a social network, meaning users can contribute to the information used as the basis for generating itineraries, calculating arrival times, finding the most accessible routes, and much more.
The application is designed to be used by everyone. As well as the disabled, this includes people with sensory impairments, reduced mobility or mild intellectual disabilities; or those who have difficulty orientating themselves such as senior citizens and tourists, among others.
