La Tarumba was founded in 1984 with a clear aim: to help construct a better country through art. Estela Paredes is the co-founder of La Tarumba and was there at the start. She is a firm supporter of the idea that art is key for the development of people and society.
Fernando Zevallo is another of the founders of La Tarumba, which he calls a childhood dream in which children can not only see the performance but become part of it. In these initial workshops they get to know the reality in Peru, which is complex: the great cultural and natural potential of the country, as well as the enormous inequality gaps in it.
La Tarumba develops a whole educational line with complete product development not only focused on developing artistic skills but on making people more sure of themselves, more complete and composed, through exercises in falling and learning from mistakes.
