Hornos de Lamastelle produces empanadas (a type of pie) and cakes in Galicia with the same commitment to society it has shown since its start in 1993. The company adheres to a policy of social responsibility, as it employs people with disabilities as a way of integrating this segment fully into society.
According to those responsible, "jobs not only have a positive impact on the personal fulfillment of the workers who carrying out a productive activity, but also give them economic independence, with the consequent improvement in autonomy, self-esteem and quality of life."
Around 98% of the workforce of Hornos de Lamastelle has a certificate of disability, one of the highest rates in Galicia. The factory produces 120 tons of empanadas every week.
