This is a totally new initiative in Latin America, set up by a group of volunteers who seek to empower young women in the technology sector. Geek Girls Latam aims to offer employment opportunities to its users and narrow the gender technology gap, expanding the possibilities for future generations of women in this sector.
Reducing the gender gap in the technology industry will help achieve the sustainable development goals (SDG) and incentivize young girls from an early age. Geek Girls Latam seeks to meet these goals in several ways: “Through three strategic axes: we offer conversational meetings (GGtalks), technological empowerment (Tech Labs), and a portal that connects with talents in the tech industry”, explains Joanna Prieto, its representative at BBVA Momentum.
This enterprise seeks a collaboration between women and men, public and private institutions and the academic sector so they can join the project.
