In Mexico 1 in 1,000 babies who share a bed with their parents die of suffocation. That was the reason Cuna de Cartón was founded. "We started our business with the motto that helping others is possible. We are a for-profit social model that seeks to improve the social environment," explains Luciana María Biondo, representative of Cuna de Cartón in BBVA Momentum. "We managed to turn a simple box into a safe and dignified place for a baby."
This company manufactures cots made with ecological materials, which care for the environment. No solvents are used in their manufacture, the inks are eco-friendly and contain no staples. Once assembled, they can no longer be disassembled. Each cardboard cot measures 76 long x 46 wide x 25 high. It is ideal for the first 6 months of a baby's life as it supports up to 13 kilograms.
More than 20,000 babies sleep in this social enterprise's cardboard cots; from Canada to Argentina, including the 32 States of Mexico.
