Oregano is an aromatic herb with a range of properties widely used among other things for flavoring food. It is also used for medicinal purposes because of its antioxidant properties and as an antiseptic and digestive to treat insect bites and stomach pains.

The herb is the driving force behind Comunidades Organizadas de la Sierra de Hidalgo, a rural community organization set up to improve the quality of life of marginalized groups and to create sources of decent and sustainable employment.

Its mission is to become a leading producer of oregano and other organic agro-forestry products with the highest quality standards to drive the overall development of communities. Its future goal is to develop new organic products apt for the consumer. “We want to be the leading company in the production and sale of organic oregano and to increase our product range on a national level in a way that wins customer loyalty and identification with the brand,” explains the group’s founder María Elena Morán.
