"It's not true that using a wheelchair means that you have to get used to renouncing life". Batec Mobility's motto is a statement of intent of its founder, Pau Bach. This Catalan entrepreneur became quadriplegic at the age of 18 as the result of a motorcycle accident and when he completed his rehabilitation, he saw that the market did not offer the mobility solutions he needed. Having spent all his adolescence on his greatest passion, motor racing, Pau did not want to depend on others or lead a life full of limitations. The solution was in his hands. From a manual wheelchair, this young man who had suffered a setback of the type that others take years to recover from, created his first Batec. In this first prototype two of the main features of its creator were already visible: a high level of demand and the attention to detail in each component. It was the first step toward something bigger.

Currently Pau Bach is the CEO of his own company: Batec Mobility. This international company, selected for Momentum 2012, manufactures handbikes that have revolutionized the world of disability, providing new opportunities for people who use them; from taking a trip to travelling long distances or playing sports.

BBVA participates in this company, through BBVA Momentum, aiming to boost its growth so that more people can change their lives and access new opportunities.
