101ideas.co is a social enterprise based on the concept: "The pride of age." Its aim is to revitalize people's adult lives and reduce depression levels in older people due to lack of work. This company offers them a job opportunity by turning them into artisans: "We make products for children, 100% by hand, through our makers, people over the age of 45," explains Catalina Santana, co-founder of the project. "We are inspired to be a therapy, a new source of hope and of extra income for those who work with us."
In Colombia, as Catalina explains: "More than four million adults have no pension, 40% percent suffer from depression and at least 400 adults are abandoned each year." This situation led to the birth of 101 Ideas: "Nicolas Serna and I decided to do something, that's why our company operates under the premise: It doesn't matter how old you are, what matters is what skills you have. We are the pride of age, and we work to break paradigms about discrimination in older adults."
101 Ideas defends senior talent and empowers the people who work with them, their makers: "Our premise is to use the capacities we have in adult life to turn them into potential for development and social, emotional, physical and economic well-being." The organization's future plans are to replicate the model in other communities, create a mentoring service and develop a type of membership that offers a number of benefits to the community (discounts, promotions, etc.).
